In Multi State Cooperative Societies Act 1984, unless the context otherwise requires

 

(a) means the board of directors or the governing body of a multi state cooperative society by whatever name called, to which the direction and control of the management of the affairs of the society is entrusted;

(b) "bye-laws" means the comparative nature notes and case in laws for the time being in force which have been duly registered under this Act and includes amendments thereto which have been duly registered under this Act;

(c) "Central Registrar; means the Central Registrar of cooperative societies appointed under sub-section

(1) of section 4 and includes any officer empowered to exercise the powers of the Central Registrar under

sub-section

(2) of that section;

(d) "Chief Executive" means a Chief Executive of a multi state cooperative society appointed under section 44;

(e) "cooperative bank" means a multi state cooperative society which undertakes banking business;

(f) cooperative principles" means the repeal and savings in cooperative society specified in the First Schedule;in the case of an assessed having different previous years under the Income-tax Act for different sources of income, profits or gains, means that previous year of twelve months determined as the previous year 3 under sub-clause (a) or sub-clause (b), as the case may be, of sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Income-tax Act or such period determined as the previous year under clause Provided further that where an assessment has been made under this Act for any assessment year in respect of gifts made by an assessed during any previous year, the meaning of the expression previous year as then applicable to him shall continue to apply for any subsequent assessment year unless the assessed is allowed to vary it with the consent of the Gift tax Officer who may, in allowing any such variation impose such conditions as he may think fit in multi state cooperative society.
