First legislation for formation of a multi state cooperative society was called the Credit societies Act, 1904. This Act provided for fonnation of Credit Societies. Simple people for their simple requirements. To overcome certain practical experienced under this Act and also to provide legislation for cooperative society Act. 1912 was enacted. For the first time provision for societies with limited and unlimited liability were introduced. Till this time was a Central subject. But on the recommendation of MACLAGON Commit and under the Reforms Act of 1919 cooperative was made a provincial subject, States to form their own Acts depending upon their own needs. Bombay proven the first State Act called cooperative societies Act, 1925 thereby replace operative Society Act, 1912. Various States subsequently their cooperative which contained various revolutionary provisions such as State aid to cooperatives, such as loans, subsidies etc. Supervision of the functioning of multi state society was entrusted mistrals. Formation of an Appellate Tribunal to hear appeals against the orders. the Registrars Procedure for execution of awards or decree and orders passed: unclear l were simplified. Liquidation proceedings were made comprehensive. Was enacted for the Union Territory and Rules 1973 were also framed. For cooperative societies with objects not confined to one State and sc interests of members in more than one State the Central Government enacted State Cooperative societies .An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to cooperative societies, with objects not confined to one State and serving the interests of members in more than one State, to facilitate the voluntary formation and democratic functioning of cooperatives as people’s institutions based on self-help and mutual aid and to enable them to promote their economic and social betterment and to provide functional autonomy and for matters connected there with or incidental there to the Place of keeping and inspection of registers and returns of Multi State Cooperative Society.
