Generally, the quorum for any type of general body meeting in a cooperative society registered under MSCS Act, 2002 is 1/5th of the total number of ordinary members. Out of those 1/5th ordinary members, at least 2/3rd should vote in favour for amendment of society and at least 1/2nd for any successful resolution. The cooperative society cannot start the meeting unless and until the requisite quorum is complete. The members along with committee members shall wait maximum for thirty minutes till the quorum is complete. Even after that, if the quorum is not complete, the meeting shall be postponed but not dissolved. In a situation, during the meeting if the numbers of members are not sufficient for the meeting to form the quorum, the chairperson or the person presiding over the meeting shall adjourn the meeting. In case of any adjourned or postponed meeting, the meeting shall be conducted on the same day or on such date, time and day as may be decided by the chairperson or the person presiding over the meeting. The only condition is that the meeting shall be conducted within seven days from then date of adjourned meeting. Further, quorum is not mandatory in case of adjourned meeting.
